Release Words

The concept of a release is integral to every duration behaviour you will ever teach our puppies, beginning with the basic crate game outlined above. Pick a term that you will remember to use consistently when releasing your dog, such as "okay", "release", "free", or "break". Ask your dog for a duration behaviour (e.g., sit or kennel), then give your release word and prompt your dog out of position, rewarding with casual praise or a low-value treat.
